West Indies all-rounder Keemo Paul could emerge as an interesting option for franchises searching for a reliable pace-bowling all-rounder at the IPL 2027 auction. Known for his right-arm medium-fast bowling and useful lower-order batting, Paul offers the kind of versatility that can help teams maintain balance in the shortest format.
The 28-year-old has already experienced the IPL, having represented Delhi Capitals (DC) in 2019 and 2020. Although his opportunities in the tournament were limited, his recent performances for West Indies have brought him back into the spotlight. Paul claimed a five-wicket haul against India in the fourth T20I in Hyderabad on October 14, 2026, finishing with figures of 5/41 as West Indies secured a 24-run victory.
3 teams that should target Keemo Paul in IPL 2027 auction
1. Chennai Super Kings
Chennai Super Kings (CSK) could consider Paul if they want another overseas seam-bowling option who can contribute with the bat. The franchise has traditionally valued players who can fulfil more than one role, particularly when building a balanced playing XI.
Paul’s ability to bowl at different stages of a T20 innings could make him an option for CSK. He generally operates after the powerplay, while his variations can help disrupt a batter’s rhythm. His recent five-wicket haul against India also demonstrated his ability to take wickets in clusters when conditions and execution work in his favour.
For CSK, the attraction would be the possibility of using Paul as a bowling all-rounder rather than relying on him as a specialist batter. His presence could provide an additional seam option and allow the team to build flexibility into its overseas combination.
However, the Super Kings would need to assess his consistency, death-over effectiveness and availability before making a decision. If the franchise identifies a need for a budget-friendly overseas quick, Paul could be worth considering.
Potential role: Overseas pace-bowling all-rounder.
2. Delhi Capitals
Delhi Capitals could be another logical destination because Paul has previously represented the franchise in the IPL. He played eight matches across the 2019 and 2020 seasons, taking nine wickets.
A return to DC would give the franchise an opportunity to revisit a player who has gained more T20 experience since his previous stint. His familiarity with the IPL environment could also help him settle into the competition more quickly.
The Capitals may consider Paul if they need additional depth in their fast-bowling group and want an overseas player capable of contributing in multiple departments. His right-arm pace could provide variety, while his lower-order batting would offer some depth.

The franchise would still need to compare him with other overseas fast bowlers available at the auction. Paul would have to demonstrate that his recent international performances can translate into consistent IPL returns.
Potential role: Reserve overseas fast bowler who can add lower-order batting depth.
3. Rajasthan Royals
Rajasthan Royals (RR) could also explore Paul as a potential squad addition if they want another seam-bowling all-rounder. A player who can bowl several overs and contribute useful runs down the order can provide valuable flexibility over a long IPL season.
Paul’s recent performances make him an option worth monitoring. His five-wicket haul against India showed his ability to exploit batting mistakes and create pressure during a chase. At the auction, RR could assess whether his skill set complements their existing pace attack and overseas options.
The Royals would need to consider how he fits into their combination, particularly because overseas places are limited. If they prioritise a specialist death bowler or a more established batting all-rounder, Paul may not be their first choice.
However, if the franchise is seeking a versatile player who could be available at a reasonable price, he could become a useful option.
Potential role: Backup overseas seam-bowling all-rounder.
