Why Arda Güler is not in Real Madrid’s squad to face AEK

An explanation for the absence of Arda Güler from La Liga giants Real Madrid’s latest European squad has on Tuesday come to the fore online.

And the news will no doubt come as a source of comfort for all of a Blancos persuasion.

Real Madrid are of course primed to return to action on the continent tomorrow evening, when they make the trip to Greece for a Champions League meeting with AEK Athens.

Los Blancos head into the matchup amid a stellar recent stretch of form, having rattled off six victories in succession since the international break.

In efforts to make it seven from seven, though, the capital outfit will be without the services of midfield pair Aurélien Tchouaméni and Arda Güler.

José Mourinho confirmed plans to afford the former a rest for the trip this past weekend, but Arda’s absence from Real Madrid’s squad to face AEK came as more of a surprise.

As per a report from Diario AS, though, the Blancos faithful need not fret:

‘Mourinho followed through on what he announced in Santander, when he stated that the French international would not travel to Athens to give him a rest, and he has extended that decision to the Turkish star, who will also be rested.’
