Sport Bild reports that top clubs are ratcheting up the pressure in their quest to acquire RB Leipzig attacking phenom Yan Diomandé. The 19-year-old prodigy will, in all likelihood, not be playing in the Bundesliga next season.

Arsenal FC, Paris Saint-Germain, Real Madrid, and Manchester City have all tendered offers in the €100m range. Leipzig, it appears, are holding out for €120m; a sum they can likely expect to receive before the current summer transfer window closes.

Yan Diomande’s rise

Leipzig took a major gamble on Diomande when they agreed to sign the teenage winger from CD Leganes in July 2025. The Ivorian had only made ten La Liga appearances, scoring twice and contributing one assist, while his estimated market value stood at just €1.5m. Leipzig nevertheless eventually invested approximately €20m in a player initially viewed as a developmental prospect.

A strong training camp quickly suggested that Diomande might be ready for more than a patient developmental role. The 18-year-old earned three Bundesliga starts during the opening phase of the campaign and produced several flashes of brilliance. There were some early adaptation issues. Diomande arrived too late to board the team bus ahead of one match, though Ole Werner laughed off the incident and made clear that no punishment would follow.

The youngster’s unconventional background made his immediate rise all the more remarkable. Born in Abidjan and raised partly in Florida, Diomande trained at academies in the United States before pursuing a European career. His path included trials with several British clubs and a brief spell in Spain before arriving in Leipzig. In an October interview on his multi-continental professional journey, Diomande admitted that his impatience stemmed from a desire to become one of the best.

His production soon caught up with his obvious potential. Diomande struck twice for Cote d’Ivoire during the October international break before scoring in three consecutive Bundesliga fixtures. He also supplied two assists in a 6-0 victory over Augsburg. The winger’s true breakout arrived in another 6-0 win against Eintracht Frankfurt. Christoph Baumgartner subsequently hailed Diomande as a top talent capable of contributing defensively as well as in attack.

By December, Diomande had collected seven goals and four assists in 15 appearances across all competitions. His estimated market value had risen to €45m and Leipzig were reportedly valuing him at €100m or more. A GGFN Cote d’Ivoire AFCON preview emphasized the variety of his finishing and described him as a well-rounded attacker who had absorbed something useful from every stop on his unusual footballing journey.

Diomande’s physical tools also began attracting attention. He reached a top speed of 36.40 km/hr in a January victory over Heidenheim, briefly registering the second-fastest sprint of the 2025/26 Bundesliga campaign. The speed record provided statistical confirmation of one of his most obvious strengths: the explosive acceleration with which he attacks defenders and open space.

The teenager continued to improve during the spring. Diomande scored his 11th Bundesliga goal to secure victory over Gladbach, prompting Baumgartner to again describe him as an exceptional player with world-class potential. One week later, he scored his 12th with a spectacular solo run against Eintracht Frankfurt. Werner praised Diomande’s timing, ball control, speed and understanding of space while the player joked that he had finally mastered “German punctuality”.

Diomande’s April performance against Union Berlin showcased more than raw speed and finishing. He helped create two Leipzig goals, completed seven dribbles, contested nearly a dozen midfield duels and recorded 24 sprints. The GGFN player ratings awarded him Man-of-the-Match honors and portrayed him as an attacker capable of influencing virtually every phase of a game.

His ascent inevitably produced transfer speculation. Diomande’s decision to change representation generated a legal dispute with an agency associated with Max Gradel and appeared to prepare the ground for a major summer move. Leipzig supervisory board chairman Oliver Mintzlaff nevertheless urged the club not to sell Diomande at any price, arguing that the teenager could continue developing and become even more valuable.

Within the space of one Bundesliga season, Diomande progressed from a highly speculative €20m signing into Leipzig’s most successful rebuilding project, a senior Cote d’Ivoire international and one of European football’s most coveted young attackers.
