Liverpool are set to host Brighton and Hove Albion at Anfield in a Premier League encounter on Sunday afternoon.
Following a disappointing defeat against Manchester City earlier this month, the Reds have bounced back by winning the last three matches across all competitions.
The Merseyside club have accumulated 12 points from seven games in the league, and they will be coming into this game off the back of a hard-fought victory over Villarreal in the Champions League. Andoni Iraola’s side have won all three games in Europe’s elite club competition.
On the other hand, Brighton have enjoyed a stellar start under Fabian Hurzeler’s guidance this season, sitting third in the Premier League table with 16 points from seven matches.
Team news
After sustaining injuries against Brentford, Dominik Szoboszlai and Victor Muñoz were sidelined against Villarreal in midweek, and they are unlikely to be involved this weekend.
After serving a suspension against Brentford last weekend, Ryan Gravenberch is eligible to feature in this game. However, Hugo Ekitike, Giovanni Leoni and Conor Bradley remain sidelined owing to their respective long-term fitness problems. Jeremie Frimpong is also expected to be unavailable for selection.
Predicted line-up
Alisson Becker is set to continue between the sticks, meaning Giorgi Mamardashvili would be among the substitutes. In front of the Brazilian, Jeremy Jacquet and Virgil Van Dijk would be the centre-back partnership for the Reds.
Ronald Araujo may be in the right-back position, and Milos Kerkez should be on the opposite side. Therefore, Kostas Tsimikas would have to make do with a place on the bench.
Gravenberch and Alexis Mac Allister may be the double midfield pivot for the Merseyside club, while Florian Wirtz could be the creative midfielder. Therefore, Trey Nyoni might feature as a substitute if needed.
Bradley Barcola should start on the left flank for Liverpool, and Cody Gakpo could be on the right. In that case, Rio Ngumoha would have to settle for a place on the bench.
Alexander Isak has enjoyed a stellar start this season after enduring a dire campaign last term and is set to continue in the centre-forward position for Liverpool this weekend.
Expected Liverpool line-up vs Brighton
Alisson; Araujo, Jacquet, Van Dijk, Kerkez; Gravenberch, Mac Allister, Wirtz; Barcola, Isak, Gakpo
