Chelsea thumped Bournemouth 5-1 at Stamford Bridge last weekend and will be looking to pick up where they left off this time around as they get matchday seven underway on Saturday at 12:30pm local time with a visit to Everton.
Hill Dickinson Stadium plays host as the fifth and sixth teams in the league table go head-to-head in the English top division, with the visitors looking to emerge victorious once more. Here is a look at the side Xabi Alonso is expected to employ.
Goalkeeper – Emiliano Martinez has yet to keep a clean sheet for Chelsea but is expected to retain his place in between the sticks on Merseyside.
Defenders – Josh Acheampong had a decent game against Bournemouth last weekend and could continue to play in the heart of the backline, with Maxence Lacroix and Levi Colwill also the favourites to start in the three-man backline for the visiting side.
Henderson starts behind unchanged attacking trident
Midfielders – Moises Caicedo’s return to full fitness is welcome news for Xabi Alonso and Chelsea. With only one game per week for the team lately, the Ecuadorian is expected to play in the starting eleven. Alongside him could be Jordan Henderson, who played superbly in the Bournemouth trouncing last week, bagging two goals that afternoon.
Pedro Neto is also looking good in his role as the right wing-back and may continue to play out-wide, as could Pep Chavarria on the left side.
Forwards – Cole Palmer is expected to continue on the right wing, with new summer signing, Morgan Rogers, who has made a rapid start to life with the Blues, in contention to feature on the left flank. Joao Pedro, who also scored a brace last weekend could round off an unchanged playing eleven for Chelsea.
Here is a look at Alonso’s potential starting line-up on paper.
