Le Golf National has been a fixture on the DP World Tour for more than three decades.

The famous venue in Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines first hosted the French Open in 1991 and has staged the tournament almost every year since. The championship moved to Médoc in 1999 and Lyon in 2001, while Golf de Saint-Nom-la-Bretèche took over hosting duties in 2025.

The French Open itself has an even longer history. First played in 1906, it is the oldest national open in Continental Europe and has formed part of the European Tour schedule since its inaugural season in 1972.

Its roll of honour reflects that history. Seve Ballesteros, Sir Nick Faldo, Greg Norman, Bernhard Langer, Jose Maria Olazabal and Retief Goosen are among the great names to have lifted the trophy.

Le Golf National entered a new realm of prestige and coverage when it was named the host Ryder Cup course in 2018. It was a memorable week for Team Europe, which convincingly beat the United States.

When the Olympic Games went to Paris in 2024, the best men’s and women’s golfers in the world headed back to the famous track in Guyancourt to compete for the gold medal. Scottie Scheffler took the top honour in the men’s event, and Lydia Ko won gold in the women’s event.

Le Golf National is an extremely popular venue in Europe, and it is one of the most-visited in France. The website offers rates for both the Albatros and the Aigle courses.

What is the Le Golf National green fee?

The Albatros Course holds tournaments and has two different green fee rates for those with and without licenses from the French Golf Federation. If you do not have a license, the Le Golf National website says it is €160 to play in the low season, which is between November 1 and March 31.

In the low season, under-25s can play for €55. In the high season, which is between April 1 and October 31, non-licence holders must pay €290, and under-25s pay €100. You can find more information about the fees at Le Golf National here.

Licensed rates are significantly kinder, at €100 in the low season and €145 in the high season. For seniors (65+), it is €85 on Wednesdays and Thursdays in the low season and €95 in the high season. It is €55 for under-25s with licences in the low season and €65 in the high season.

On the Aigle Course, those without a licence pay €80 in the low season and €95 in the high season. Licence holders pay €60 in the low season and €69 in the high season on weekdays, and it’s €60 and €79 on weekends and public holidays.

Non-licence holders under 25 on the Aigle course pay €40 in the low season and €65 in the high season, while licensed under-25s pay €40 in both seasons.

The Novotel Saint Quentin en Yvelines is included in the Albatros Special Offer, which is a game on the Albatros course, a one-night stay in the Novotel and breakfast – all for €270, dropping to $185 in November and December.
