Speaking after VfB Stuttgart’s 2-0 defeat against Galatasaray on Matchday 4 of the 2026/27 UEFA Champions League, Fabian Bredlow expressed a suspicion regarding the whistling coming from the stands.

“I don’t know if they were all generated by humans,” he explained. “Especially when the people were singing and then suddenly there were whistles. I thought to myself: Something’s not right here.”

Aleksey Batrakov struck twice in a two-minute spell to secure a 2-0 victory for Galatasaray, inflicting a first Champions League defeat of the season on Stuttgart.

Captain Deniz Undav also weighed in on the whistling situation, but didn’t want to put blame on it. “I couldn’t care less,” he added, while sporting director Fabian Wohlgemuth also remained calm. “Well, I didn’t have to cover my ears,” instead deflecting the question on Stuttgart’s motivation.

“I think that being able to play in this atmosphere was more motivating for all of us today,” Wohlgemuth explained. “And we all handled in and endured it, and are still healthy.”

Stuttgart host Werder Bremen on 7 November.
