UFC returns to China after a two-week layoff, with the next events set to impress MMA fans before leading up to the White House card in mid-June.
The last time a fight night was hosted in China, Johnny Walker bounced back with a second-round TKO victory over Zhang Mingyang in August at UFC Shanghai.
Macau hosted its last UFC fight card in November 2024, where Petr Yan triumphed in the main event against the upcoming headliner of this event.
Here is what you need to know about the main attraction of UFC Macau, as well as three other bouts that will catch your interest.
Kung Fu Kid is aiming to return to the win column
Song Yadong competes for the second time this year, having already fought in the organisation’s first event of 2026.
The Chinese mixed martial artist just came up short in a close contest with former bantamweight champion Sean O’Malley as he lost by unanimous decision at UFC 324.
The #5 contender has not been active despite facing tough competition, fighting only four times over three years.
February 2025 was the last time the 28-year-old won, defeating Henry Cejudo by unanimous decision (technical) at UFC Seattle, avenging his decision loss to Yan prior to that, which he needs to repeat.
The Harbin-born fighter has 12 finishes from his 22 victories on his MMA record, with his last stoppage win coming against Ricky Simon in April 2023, where Yadong won by fifth-round TKO.
‘Kung Fu Kid’ is looking to maintain his spot in the 135-pound rankings so he can become the first male Chinese athlete to compete for a UFC title.
Another redemption win is needed for the Brazilian
Deiveson Figueiredo fought on the same event as his opponent in his last battle, suffering a unanimous decision defeat to Umar Nurmagomedov in Las Vegas.
This wasn’t long after he broke his two-fight losing streak when he beat Montel Jackson by split decision at UFC Rio.
‘Deus da Guerra’ has been aiming to become a two-division UFC Champion ever since his move up to bantamweight, where he started off with three successive wins before going downhill from there.
The former UFC Flyweight Champion has faced difficult opponents in the 135-pound division, including Cory Sandhagen, Marlon ‘Chito’ Vera and Cody Garbrandt.
The 38-year-old shares the same amount of knockouts as submissions with a total of nine from 25 victories in his career as a stoppage win on Saturday would help get his shot for the title, as well as claiming revenge on Yan.
A win for Figueiredo will see him move into the top five of the rankings as he aims to get redemption in the Galaxy Arena after failing to triumph in Macau the first time.
Three other fights to watch at UFC Macau
Zhang Mingyang vs Alonzo Menifield
It’s an exciting light heavyweight battle in the co-main event as China’s own tries to re-enter the 205-pound rankings.
Mingyang is aiming to maintain his 100% first-round finish rate by bouncing back in his home country after receiving his first UFC loss in his last bout.
Menifield is eyeing a stay at #15 in the rankings and wants redemption after suffering a brutal first-round knockout loss to Volkan Oezdemir at UFC Qatar.
Both fighters prefer to stay on their feet when they’re in the Octagon, so be prepared for a knockout.
Sergei Pavlovich vs Tallison Teixeira
A heavyweight clash sees a prospect gaining an opportunity to enter the top five of the rankings against a fighter who is close to a title shot.
Pavlovich’s last fight was in Shanghai, where he comfortably secured a win against Waldo Cortes-Acosta to claim back-to-back victories.
Teixeira lost his 100% finish but did bounce back in his last contest as he went the distance with Tai Tuivasa to win by unanimous decision at UFC 325.
While they have showcased their grappling skills more recently, both the Russians and Brazilians are knockout artists and won’t want to miss a chance to earn a performance bonus.
Alex Perez vs Sumudaerji
Another Chinese fighter attempts to re-enter the rankings against a highly credited flyweight contender.
Perez returned to winning ways in style after stopping Charles Johnson in the first round at UFC 324 to end his two-fight negative streak.
Sumudaerji has gradually found his groove again after defeating Jesus Aguilar by unanimous decision at UFC 326, extending his winning streak to three.
With the #11 ranking on the line in the 125-pound division, it’s anyone’s for the taking but ‘The Tibetan Eagle’ will hope home advantage pays off.
