The explosive New Zealand wicketkeeper-batter produced a brilliant display of power-hitting throughout his innings, but it was one monstrous strike over the leg side that quickly became one of the standout moments of the opening stages of the tournament.
The maximum came on the 31st ball of the first innings when Overton bowled a length delivery around middle and leg. Seifert cleared his front leg before launching a powerful slog deep over the mid-wicket boundary, sending the ball soaring into the stands. Manchester Super Giants edge thrilling contest
Chasing 139, London Spirit found themselves under pressure early before Livingstone and Dewald Brevis rebuilt the innings with a composed partnership. Livingstone then switched gears in trademark fashion, smashing five sixes during a magnificent 69 off 40 balls to keep Spirit firmly in the hunt.
However, Manchester Super Giants held their nerve in the closing moments. Gus Atkinson produced a crucial spell at the death, including the wicket of Brevis with a sharp caught-and-bowled chance, before Sonny Baker delivered the decisive blow by clean bowling Livingstone with only five balls remaining.
The dismissal effectively sealed the contest as Manchester Super Giants secured a hard-fought seven-run victory, restricting London Spirit to 131/6 in front of a packed crowd at Lord’s.
