‘The best possible news’ – José Mourinho reveals his hopes for Atlético vs Barcelona

Real Madrid head coach José Mourinho has on Friday spoken out on the upcoming showdown between his side’s two main La Liga title challengers.

The headline fixture of the upcoming gameweek in Spain’s top-flight is of course set to play out at the Metropolitano on Sunday evening.

The matchup in question will see Diego Simeone’s Atlético Madrid play host to Barcelona, in a battle between 1st and 2nd in the table.

Just three points separate the top three in La Liga heading into the clash, with Real Madrid sitting in 3rd.

Speaking during an appearance in front of the media ahead of Los Blancos’ showdown with Valencia on Saturday, the aforementioned José Mourinho was therefore asked for his take on the upcoming Metropolitano matchup.

And the Portuguese tactician went on to admit:

”Atlético vs Barcelona? I’d like both of them to lose! Unfortunately, that’s not possible. Points will inevitably be dropped, and that’s the best possible news.”
