Introduction

Blue Tees Golf have firmly established themselves in the golfing world having released several successful rangefinder products such as the Blue Tees Series 3 Max. With that said, in 2026 they have upgraded their products line up to offer golfers much more information than what a typical laser has to offer. Most golfer’s tend to know their yardages but with the use of Ai the Blue Tees Captain Pro aims to act as a caddy providing true distance measurements factoring in slope and wind as well as club recommendations. Sounds great, right? So, let’s put the Blue Tees Captain Pro rangefinder to the test to see how it performs…

NCG Summary

Rangefinders have grown in popularity over the years thanks to their quick, point-and-shoot simplicity. Whilst a lot go golfers may feel like a distance measurement alone is enough the Captain Pro rangefinder aims to go above and beyond acting as a caddy. Flag lock confirms the target is locked in before giving a true distance accounting for wind, temperature and slope. Ai Scout then uses this to give a club recommendation based on your real yardages.

Front, middle and back distances can also be shown as well as having “find my” capability through the Bluetooth connectivity. The Blue Tees app works alongside these features acting as a GPS, displaying lay up distances and a full hole view.

Key benefits and downsides

Key benefits Downsides
Sleek and lightweight: Weighing just over 200g its sleek design is lightweight, fitting in/on any golf bag easily. Heavily relies on app: A lot of the features wouldn’t work without the Bluetooth connectivity to the app.
Battery: Despite being a rechargeable product I’ve used it for multiple rounds a week or the last month and it’s still going strong on battery life without being charged again yet!
Accuracy: Good yardages compared to other devices
Display: multi coloured display gives clear visuals

First Impressions

Out of the box, this is a great looking rangefinder. It’s smart, sleek and look premium. It’s not overly big and heavy, sitting comfortably in your hand. It weighs just over 200g so you would barely notice this on your golf bag.

Blue Tees provides you with a sturdy carry case so your laser is always protected. This can be clipped onto the side of your golf bag for convenience. The laser itself also has a magnetic side so that it can be attached onto a golf cart or anything else for ease.

How I undertook the review

I’ve been using the Blue Tees Captain Pro rangefinder over the last month during my rounds of golf. I’ve used it alongside other rangefinder’s including my trusty Bushnell Tour V6 to see how the numbers compared.

What I found

In terms of basic set up the Blue Tees was very simple. Charge it, turn it on and you’re good to go. I quite quickly got to grips with turning the slope function on and off and the simple lasering of the flag was as easy as it should be.

The Captain Pro has a 7 x magnification with a vibrant OLED display. It’s very clear to look through and the multi coloured display helps to clearly identify the number that you’re looking for. When you lock in on a pin there is a vibration to give conformation that’s very handy.

As mentioned this laser has slope capability – Blue Tee’s has cleverly used a system where the light on the outside glows red when in slope mode. This helps to prevent this feature from being abused in tournaments where it’s not allowed. You can easily switch been having this on and off by holding the button in. This mode is where you can access lots more information…

The Blue Tee’s Captain Pro has far more to offer than your standard laser and this took a little more figuring out. Starting with downloading the Blue Tees app, this allowed for Bluetooth connectivity. The app then shows where the laser is a handy feature if you ever worrying if it’s at the bottom of your bag or on the previous fairway. There is precision yardages and meaningful insights from 42,000+ courses worldwide. The full hole display gives distances to bunkers and hazards, helping you to plan the holes out.

The images below display a few screens that you would find on the app during a round. The left image being the typical GPS mode, showing the hazards as well as allowing you to move the marker to plan out your first shot and seeing the distance left in from there. The middle image shows the True Distance feature – the device uses Ai to calculate the temperature, wind, slope etc to then give a ‘plays like distance’. Finally, you can input your score in the app, including your stats like fairways and greens in regulation and putts per hole.

The rangefinder itself does offer a lot of information, so hole number is displayed with the front, middle and back distance. You can use the buttons on the top to change through the different displays. The left image shows the true distance feature and then the recommended club for that. I found that during my round this was honestly very accurate.

The laser also displays battery life at the top so you always know what is left. I wasn’t too sure how I would feel about the fact that it’s a rechargeable rangefinder as the one’s I’ve always used have been battery operated. As mentioned I’ve used the Captain Pro for a good few weeks now playing at least 8 times and I’ve only noticed that it’s lost one bar of power so I’d say that’s pretty impressive.

NCG Final Say

Overall, the Blue Tees Captain Pro rangefinder is a great addition to any golfers bag who likes lots of information. They have really packed so much into one device and working in tandem with the app it’s like you get two devices in one. The yardages have been very accurate over my time using the Captain Pro. I like how sleek and light the laser is, taking up little space in my bag.

How they compare to other rangefinders

I was very impressed that see that the numbers were almost identical to my current Bushnell V6 everytime time with only a couple of yards variation.
